TAMWORTH FILM PROJECT [PNAN]

CABRAMATTA FILM PROJECT [PNAN ]

showed them that they do have the ability to make it in the film
industry. It gave them the confidence to express themselves creatively.

METRO SCREEN CABRAMATTA: Certificate III in
Screen [Dec 2004 – Mar 2005]
The Mobile Unit received funding from the NSW Department of Education
and Training to conduct a Certificate III in Screen course in Cabramatta,
for disadvantaged youth. The project was held at the Cabramatta
Community Centre.
Students produced two short films and two documentaries, addressing
issues of child abuse, domestic violence and suicide. The films
are of a high standard and were screened at the Chauvel Cinema.
They are under consideration for several national film festivals.
One course participant has gone on to work as a Channel Free mentor,
and several others are continuing to work in conjunction with Metro
in furthering their film and television careers.

METRO SCREEN BANKSTOWN: Certificate III in
Multimedia
[Dec 2004 – May 2005]
The Mobile Unit received funding from the NSW Department of Education
and Training to conduct a Certificate III in Multimedia for participants
from the Bankstown area.
Students receive training in animation and website design, as well
as digital non-linear editing. They also study the Australian multimedia
industry to help them find employment upon course completion. Two
students have been involved as actors and on-set assistants in Metro’s
Certificate IV in Screen productions. Several students are working
on submissions for the upcoming Multicultural Mentorship Scheme.

SHOOTING WEST [Jun 2005]
Shooting West is an opportunity for aspiring Western Sydney filmmakers
to participate in workshops, seminars, and film screenings, as well
as meet with filmmakers, industry representatives and celebrity
guests to get an understanding and first point of entry into the
world of film and television.
Metro Screen’s Mobile Unit ran one-hour taster workshops in
video production and editing throughout the day, which took place
at the Campbelltown Arts Centre.

LEMONGROVE VIDEO INTENSIVE
[Sep 2005]
Six ‘at-risk’ youth were taken through an intensive
one-day video production workshop to enable them to use video production
equipment to go on and make their own short film for the Play Now
/ Act Now Film Festival. The project was extremely successful, with
participants drawing from their personal experiences to tell their
own story through film, under the guidance of industry professionals.

The Mobile Unit worked with local youth around the themes of alcohol
abuse to produce a short film for the Play Now / Act Now Film festival.
Participants learnt the fundamentals of video production and post-production,
and worked with industry tutors to film and edit their film titled
The Worst In Me. The film has received interest from several youth
festivals.
