MACQUARIE:
Youth Workshops [Jul 2001]
Two weekend workshops for twenty 18-25 year olds in partnership
with Lake Macquarie Regional Art Gallery. The workshops were designed
for local youth to participate in the Newcastle Shoot Out Festival
in July. The workshops were funded through an Australia Council
grant. One of the participants won the under 18 section of Shoot
Out.

TAMWORTH: BIG hART Project [Sep –
Nov 2001]
In partnership with BIG hART, Metro Screen received scholarships
from NSW Dept of Education and Training for eight of the young
filmmakers from the “Hurt” and “Not at Home”
projects. The 170 hours of accredited video production training
produced eight drama scripts; one researched documentary script,
seven 3-5 minute drama and a ten-minute documentary. The objective
of the training was to provide pathways to further training, independent
filmmaking and into industry through placements.
NEWCASTLE: Digital Arts and Media Workshops
[Oct 2001]
Twelve participants gained 360 hours of accredited training in
digital arts and media. Metro Screen also provided equipment for
demonstrations and forums at the DVD / Digital Convergence Forum
@ Electrofringe 2001 held in Newcastle.
