Screen KALEIDOSCOPE FILM + VIDEO + MULTIMEDIA FESTIVAL
|
:::KALEIDOSCOPE FESTIVAL POSTPONED UNTIL 2005:::
As the applications for funding the festival were unsuccessful the Metro Screen Board has decided to postpone Kaleidoscope in 2004.
Metro Screen regrets this decision and hopes to bring Kaleidoscope back bigger better and brighter in 2005. |
About Metro Screen's Kaleidoscope Festival
The Metro Screen Kaleidoscope short video+film+multimedia Festival is designed to celebrate and encourage the progressive and creative work of emerging young filmmakers + multimedia producers, + to provide those individuals with networking + production opportunities for their future careers.
Metro Screen Kaleidoscope strives to foster the talents of Australian filmmakers + multimedia artists by providing a vital platform for industry recognition and exhibition. Where short film is not merely a stepping stone to feature production but a genre unto itself.
Kaleidoscope has evolved rapidly over the past six years, growing out of an annual end of year screening for our Members Production Group, [MPG]. In 1999 this annual screening grew into ‘Beyond the Directrix’ a competition for MPG members, with industry-sponsored prizes organised by the then MPG Coordinator Rebecca Ingram. The year after saw Michelle Hardy + Katrina Beck take the reigns, expanding the festival to include all members of Metro Screen. The name also changed to Kaleidoscope. In its Fifth year, the festival became a large-scale event screening 50 new works over 5 festival nights to over 550 people. Further events throughout Australia took place with a National Tour program making Metro Screen Kaleidoscope Festival a national event attracting over $40,000 worth of prizes, more than 40 industry sponsors + is open to entrants who are members of any Screen Development Organisation [SDA] in Australia. |
