First Break is generously supported by Screen NSW and Screen Australia.

“Metro Screen have been great, to know that you can come in and someone will spend 15mins on some little problem you are having really made the difference. To have people that could point you in the right direction, ask you if you had thought of this or that, put you in touch with others that could help and give you other short films to watch as a point of reference was incredibly supportive.”  2011 BREAKS filmmaker John Tsioulos

“Metro Screen has been extremely helpful in getting this film made, obviously it wouldn’t have been possible without them, but every step of the way I don’t think everything would have come together without their support. If I had a problem with say my sound gear I could call up the hire department and they’d have the answer straight away. And if there was a script problem I could call up David Opitz and he gave ideas. It’s just really nice to have all these people who are there with a well of ideas to help you through anything you need. It’s been a real asset and I think it is for any filmmaker.” 2011 BREAKS filmmaker Miles Szanto

“It was a great confidence booster that an institution like Metro Screen picks up your script and says we’ll put our time and effort into that. Throughout the process they really nurtured, they didn’t hang over your shoulder and check what your doing all the time, they gave you the reigns and let you run with it, and really entrusted you with it. And that encourages you to deliver high quality, you know they are not babying you, not pressuring you and so you just want to give back a really good product.”  2011 BREAKS filmmaker Jo-Anne Brechin
