BREAKOUT

Breakout is a program for team applicants only. A minimum of two applicants must apply where one must be the producer and the second and third either the writer and/or director. 

 

Two projects of up to 15 minutes screen duration will be selected. Drama, doco, animation, series pilot, experimental, cross-platform will be considered.

Breakout is a program for all experienced filmmakers*.

* The applicant must have at least one produced screen credit in their respective roles that has been released, broadcast or screened at a recognised film festival. Applicants with feature or substantial television drama experience are not eligible.

Breakout is generously supported by Screen NSW.

 

BREAKOUT PROVIDES;

  • a cash budget of $15,000 for production and crew fees.
  • production equipment and postproduction facilities to the value of $1,200.
  • a Supervising Producer to support and advise your team
  • one place in a Metro Screen short course of your choosing to the value of $600
  • a joint cast and crew screening with other similarly funded Metro Screen projects within two months of the deliverables date.
  • 12 months free membership with Metro Screen

TIMELINE/SCHEDULE FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

  • Deadline for applications: 20 Jan 2012
  • Successful applicants notified: 9 March 2012
  • Production and post: April- October 2012
  • Deliverables date: 19 October 2012

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT RESPONSIBILITIES;

Successful applicants MUST:

  • Attend a pre production meeting at Metro Screen.
  • Produce a finished film of up to 15 minutes within the deliverables date.

  • Completed application form [one copy of the printed and signed confirmation email you will receive after completing the online application]
  • A complete script - does not need to be at final draft stage
  • A one-line AND one paragraph AND one page synopsis
  • Marketing plan [one page max]
  • Director’s Statement [half page max]
  • Producer Statement [half page max]
  • Bio / CV for producer, director, writer where relevant – clearly list crew role for past credits [one page each]
  • Short bios of key crew if known [one page max]
  • An example of screened works from both the producer and the director OR a joint project. To be provided as a link to either a Youtube URL or a password protected Vimeo URL.
  • Budget

  • A signed Writers Agreement assigning all rights to the script to be developed and produced to the producer from the screenwriter

ASSESSMENT

Applications are assessed by Metro Screen’s Projects Manager and a panel of industry representatives.
