Course Overview

This 4.5 month hands-on experience provides you with an impressive showreel of documentary, drama and client focused work. Now with a new industry placement scheme and client driven production, this course focuses more than ever on practical industry relevant skills that will enable you to work in film, TV, online and portable.

The intensive full-time program includes three days per week of face-to-face classes combined with several self-paced learning elements. The curriculum is specifically designed to address the training needs of the film, TV and digital media industries, giving students a broad range of employable skills. Study includes a series of student-led productions, technical workshops, intensive classroom based teaching and self-paced project work.

Work on a documentary, two short dramas and then prove your credentials by working on a real-life assignment from an industry client [music video, TVC etc].

Each participant works on all productions and secures a major crew role of producer, director, cinematographer, sound designer or editor on at least three.

Participants also undertake a two week industry placement with a film, TV or digital media organisation providing valuable workplace experience and the opportunity to make an impression.

On successful completion, participants receive the nationally recognised qualification, the Certificate IV in Screen and Media [CUF40107]. Before graduating, participants also create a DVD showreel of their work.

Anastassia Yanatchkova
Metro Screen Certificate IV in Screen and Media graduate Anastassia Yanatchkova has landed a position with Screen NSW. Anastassia is the new assistant to the Creative and Enterprise Development team. Which includes being personal assistant to the Director of Creative and Enterprise Development, as well as providing administrative assistance to the whole team- scheduling meetings, receiving applications and responding to enquiries.

“The internship component that the Cert IV offers is really significant, as it's the only way to get to know people in the industry and begin building relationships. Everyone at Screen NSW was amazing during my internship, really wanting me to get the most of my time there, and I learnt a lot. The hands on aspect of the Cert IV course is really refreshing and useful- coming out of the course with a short film I directed that I am now entering into festivals is great!”
said Anastassia.
