VIDEO GAME DESIGN FOR KIDS

This aims to teach kids how to develop and create their own video games. This highly practical, fun and engaging new workshop aims to teach basic design and development skills for video games. -
Young Filmmakers

If you’re between 11 – 17 and you’re ready to learn how to create a short film this is the course for you. Learn the basics of filmmaking all the way from script to screen over 3 days in a class of 21 students at Metro Screen in Paddington. Each student will have the chance to write, act, shoot, light, direct, edit, add soundtrack and produce a short. The class will have the choice of making a short film, film trailer, behind-the-scenes documentary or television commercial. Classes run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10am – 5pm each day, filling fast.

Trop Jr
In December 2012, Metro Screen and Tropfest ran a 3-day workshop just for kids ages 11 – 15 years, to create short films for TropJr. All participants had the opportunity to write, act, shoot, light, direct, edit, add a soundtrack, and produce a short film project. Being part of this short course allows young students to join a collective of over 300 young Sydney filmmakers and become part of the industry community to receive regular updates and invites to screenings and special events. Films produced during the school holiday workshops have screened and been awarded prizes at the TropJr event in Sydney’s domain. This is an amazing head start for any talented young people interested in exploring filmmaking.

Flickerfest Jr
Flickferfest and Metro Screen partnered in January 2012 to offer workshop places to young flimmakers ages 11 – 17 years, shooting at the famous Bondi Pavilion on Bondi Beach. Flickerfest International Short Films Festival is Academy accredited and BAFTA recognized, it screens the best short films from Australia and around the world. The students films are screened as part of the festival with free entry to the FlickerUp Movie Extra Screening.

Multi Media Game Creation

This 4-day course teaches kids 11 – 17 years old, the exciting new world of Alternative Reality Games known as ARG’s. This hands-on workshop will teach participants about famous ARG’s that have changed the media landscape. Teachers will show kids how to get creative with the group creating their own ARG using Facebook, blogs, twitter and iPhone apps and even real world problems, puzzles and clues. Classes run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday between 10am – 5pm.
