PNAN youth arts festival

2009 festival below. 2010 coming soon!

Are you one of our people?

Screening to a capacity audience of over 150 and including special guest speakers; the Minister assisting the Minister for Health [Mental Healt]) Barbara Perry and top filmmaker Nash Edgerton [who delivered an honest and funny recollection of his first film screening], as well as judges, industry and community representatives, family and friends, The Red Rattler Theatre in Marrickville was transformed into a alternative universe of balloons, bubbles and hundreds of decorated cupcakes. With all three categories being represented and exhibited in every corner of the venue, the night delivered a wide array of entries that all brimmed with originality and tackled our
signature theme of drugs and alcohol in a subtle but powerful way.

The highly esteemed judging pannel of short film- Rachel Ward, Erin Free and Peter James, creative writing - Marieke Hardy, Jonathan Holmes and Lucy Howard-Taylor and graphic design - Adam Paquette, Richard De Carvalho and Dario Gardiman had the unenviable job of picking both a highly commended and winning entry. Upstairs in the judging room, the discussion was intense with the feeling that the general standard of the work made picking only two winners extremely difficult.

The after party kicked off with a mesmerizing performance by THE JEZABELS and concluded with a jaw dropping display of game boy electro thrash from 10K FREE MEN AND THEIR FAMILIES, which had to be seen to be believed- a mash of Mario Brothers and Top Gun with a little Led Zeppelin thrown in for good measure. Special thanks must also go to DOUGHBOY PIZZA who brought their portable cooking oven and filled the space with hot oven fresh pizza, cooked directly outside the doors.

Congratulations to everyone who entered but the good times are not over yet with the PNAN Regional Tour just kicking off with stops at COWRA CIVIC CENTRE and BYRON BAY YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTRE.
